Day Eight - Breakfast Breakdown

Wow.... Day 8.... It is amazing that it was only a year ago that Dave was just beginning to share his dream with all of us at the Connections Meeting about this crazy walk he was planning to do to raise funds for projects in Guatemala, Ecudor and Respite Services in Ontario, and here we are on day 8 of this amazing journey and it has been nothing short of amazing!

The idea of a silent auction started out at a team meeting about 6 months ago, a couple of us had come up with this idea to do a small auction at one of the programs to raise a couple of hundred dollars for the Dash, as time went by and plans began to evolve it was decided that we would include this event with something larger.

My husband Darren and I began to go around to local businesses and talk about Daves Dash and we watched as items began to accumulate in our little computer room of our home, with every item donated I was overwhelmed with a sense of thankfulness knowing that the Lord was going to work through these items to provide employment and shelter among other things to those who are not as financially "fortunate" as us. With all of the plans coming together Bruce Jackson, Carol Regts from First Family homes and I came together and decided to host the Silent Auction starting at the Connections meeting and it would follow through at the Breakfast that Carol & Bruce so willingly planned, to make a long story short the "little" auction we had planned ended up raising a GRAND TOTAL OF 2181.00!

The breakfast was beautiful, Walter Ploegman from CKSY hosted the event and Bob Beasly from back to the bible delivered a beautiful devotion, and of course it wouldn't have been complete without the stunning Judy Paling to lead us in worship! Amber and Dave were absolutely glowing and the spirit in these two people never ceases to amaze me, they are truly being his hands and feet, the epitimy of what an advocate should be. We were blessed to have at least one person from every Chatham program join us and some even made a couple hour drive to support the cause.

A big thank you especially to Jean, Diane & Mary from the Kent 2 program I could not have done the silent auction without you, and to all of those who donated an item, purchased a ticket, bid at the connections meeting or just came out with a kind word and a couple dollars, without you this would not have been a success.

....."Truly I tell you.... If you have done this unto the least of my brothers....you have done this unto me"........
Be Blessed today!
