Day one
I'm at home know, constantly stretching out the muscles.
Day one was great! Hard work, but great! 31 kms is a long way to walk, especially when you know you have a few more of them to do.
The day was made especially light hearted, by the drivers, Jeannette, Michelle and Ross. You guys were such fun! Early on in the day we figured that the van could use a little something, so they went off to the nearest walmart and got washable window markers and decorated the van.
But the first OOPS! was only 5 minutes in. at the first intersection we saw Jeanette across the street waiting for us. but we couldn't figure out why, we didn't see the chase van, she was just standing there waiting for us to get there. Turns out the chase van, was stuck at the office, mainly because I had both sets of van keys in my pockets, OOPS!
then later in the day, while parked beside the road, Michelle got this great idea for a cool picutre of our steps, see previous blog post. Great Pics Michelle. But Michelle had to lie down on the road to get this great ground level shot. Momenets later a lady pulled up and was some-what excited saying "Is this some kind of a joke" thinking that she was reading the lettering on the van we said, "NO" no joke here, we really are walking to Windsor. Turns out that is not what she meant, She thought the van had hit Michelle and she was dead or something. Anyway, we go that straightened up and away we went.
Our lunch was another story! the gps kindly said there was a subway only 3 kms away in Ayr. so off the chase van went! Unfortunelty the gps was just joking I guess. Plan B - go to new orleans pizza and subs. Only 3 customers in the place and the order was placed, I wasn't there, but I understand the lady was very surprised, even put out that subs were ordered and then she proceeded to make them. It only took her 30 minutes to make them, Yup, 30 minutes to make 5 sandwiches. Needless to say the other customers left, good for our group they stuck in there. We needed food! (I use the term Food lightly) But hey it fueled the muscles and kept us going!
What a great day!

Words of Encouragement!!
So great to see that you made it through Day 1 - I found myself thinking about you and Amber all day long in the middle of working - those moments were moments to pray - May God give you a good night's rest as you prepare for Day 2!! Thanks for sharing. Michelle W.
Such a great and fun start! Like the feet shots; but can't believe your 'shoe dude' put ya in Nikes. Coming from a 35 year fan of New Balance... hehe. Here is praying that that Nike 'Swoosh' (or better yet, "Wings of an Eagle") get ya to the finish line. Again, congrats on day one!
